Valenti was born in Milan as a "Turning shop for sheets of any metal in general and possible assembly" In Italy we are experiencing the twenty years of fascism. That same year the New York stock exchange collapsed with serious economic and social consequences. In this context of crisis Valenti invests in raw materials with courage and determination.
After the fall of the fascist government and the end of the war, Milan was devastated by bombings. Those who survived talk about the spirit and strength they felt after the war: the desire for rebirth.
In 1946 the AR plan (Albini and Rogers) for the reconstruction and development of Milan was published in “Casabella” (n.194/1946).
On 18 March 1948 Lucio Fontana and others published the First Manifesto of Spatialism which would have Gianni Dova, Roberto Crippa and Cesare Peverelli among its major exponents in Milan.
On February 28, 1949, the reconstruction plan for Milan was approved.
In 1956 the ADI Association of Italian Industrial Design was founded.
In this climate of ferment Valenti specializes in the production of designer lighting technology.
1960-1967
Renzo Pighi decides to found the Ecolight brand in Milan to test the lighting production market.
Thus began the collaboration with young designers who see Valenti and EcoLight as a point of reference for creative research.
In Italy the center left asserts itself.
Architect Luciano Patetta designs Diatomea. Table lamp made up of an upper body and an internal Perspex diffuser.
Emira e Guido Fochi design Tenebra. A suspension in lacquered metal.
Valenti collaborates with Olaf Von Bohr, thus the iconic Medusa lamp is born.
Medusa is created by assembling a series of shaped lacquered strips about a steel hoop. The strips form a unique diffuser that creates a sensually soft lighting effect. Sinuous and winking, it combines the principles of a polished and minimal design with a charge of timeless dream and poetry.
